About the Park

Bayfront Park sits right on Sarasota Bay, just steps from downtown. A paved path loops around the park with views of the Ringling Bridge, Bird Key, and the bay — it's one of the best spots in the city for a sunset walk.

The interior of the park is anchored by large banyan trees that provide generous shade. On any given day, you'll see people reading under the trees, doing yoga on the grass, or just enjoying the quiet. Despite being right next to downtown, the park has a genuinely relaxed feel.

The park recently added a kids' playground and splash pad, which sits on a turf surface with picnic benches around it — a great setup for families. Kids can burn off energy while parents stay comfortable nearby.

O'Leary's Tiki Bar is right on the park grounds, with picnic tables overlooking the bay. It's a laid-back spot to grab a drink with your feet in the sand. Marina Jack sits just adjacent, with boat rentals and LeBarge sunset cruises departing from the marina. And downtown Sarasota is only a few minutes' walk from the park.

The park also draws crowds for a few big occasions — 4th of July fireworks and the Christmas boat parade being the most notable.

Parking & Directions

Bayfront Park is located at 5 Bayfront Drive, right off US-41 in downtown Sarasota. The park has its own free parking lot.

On most days, parking is easy. Turn left as you enter the lot and you'll typically find a spot close to the park without any issues.

On busy weekends in high season, the left side may fill up. In that case, turn right and drive a bit further down — the spots are a short walk from the park but still convenient.

During major events, parking gets tight. You may need to drive all the way down past Marina Jack to find overflow parking, which can put you about a 5-minute walk from the park. If you know a big event is happening, arriving early is the best strategy.
