Sarasota 4th of July: Fireworks & Events Guide

Drone show lighting up the sky over Waterside Place in Lakewood Ranch on the 4th of July

Independence Day 2026 is going to be a big one across the Sarasota area. The 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, which means more events, bigger crowds, and a packed fireworks calendar.

It also happens to coincide with America’s 250th anniversary (the Semiquincentennial, branded America250), and several events are leaning into the milestone with rededications and expanded patriotic programming.

Below is a complete guide to every fireworks show, parade, and Independence Day event across the Sarasota metro, grouped by area so you can pick a show close to home.

North Port / Wellen Park

North Port Freedom Festival

📍 CoolToday Park (Wellen Park)
🕐 6–9:30pm · 🎆 9pm
🏷️ Free

North Port goes big for the 4th. Gates open at 6pm to the Patriotic Play Zone on the Event Lawn — bounce houses, lawn games, Touch-A-Truck — and Firecracker Lane along the stadium concourse with merch vendors, nonprofits, and food trucks.

The 7pm opening ceremony brings out the full patriotic package: the North Port Young Marines present the colors, Jennifer Montalvo sings the National Anthem, and a formation flyover from the Gulf Coast Raptors closes it out. Dukes of Brinkley then headline from 7:15 right up to the 9pm fireworks.

Take a stadium seat or sprawl on the Event Lawn (BYO blankets and chairs). The whole show is registered as one of America’s Ultimate Block Party sites for the 250th.

Venice / Nokomis

Venice Independence Day Fireworks

📍 North Brohard Beach
🎆 9–9:30pm
🏷️ Free

Venice’s headline beach show pulls 12,000+ to the Gulf every 4th. Zambelli sets up just north of the Venice Fishing Pier and fires bursts up to 300 feet high — big enough to see from Nokomis Beach in the north all the way down to Caspersen Beach in the south.

You don’t need to be at the launch site to catch it. Venice Beach, Service Club Park, North and South Brohard, and Maxine Barritt Park all give clean Gulf views.

Parking is free at every listed beach plus the Venice Community Center and along Harbor Dr — but bike or carpool if you can. Venice gets crowded on the 4th.

Pop’s 4th of July

📍 Pop's Sunset Grill
🕐 Afternoon onward · 🎆 ~9pm (Venice show, dock view)
🏷️ Free

Pop’s runs an all-day party on the Nokomis waterfront — and the dock view of the Venice fireworks at the end is the real draw.

Courtyard music kicks off mid-afternoon, the tiki bar opens for business in the late afternoon, and the kids’ crew shows up early with face painting and balloon animals.

Grab a dock seat as the sun drops and you’re set for one of the best free fireworks views on the south side.

Sarasota / Siesta Key

Sarasota Bayfront Fireworks Spectacular

📍 Bayfront Park
🎆 ~9pm
🏷️ Free

The big one!

Sarasota’s marquee free show launches right over the bay — and most waterfront perches downtown offer a clean line of sight. Bayfront Park is first-come, first-served, so plant a chair early.

Marina Jack opens up reservation-only riverside dining for those who’d rather order a drink than wrestle for sand.

(2026 event details still being finalized — check back closer to the date.)

Siesta Key Community Fireworks

📍 Siesta Key Public Beach
🎆 ~9:15pm (dusk)
🏷️ Free (donation-funded)

The region’s quietly iconic free fireworks night that is community and donation-funded. Zambelli’s pyrotechnicians launch from a beach setup just north of the volleyball courts, and the audience spreads out along the sand to the south.

You can watch from anywhere on the public beach or stretching south along Crescent Beach — and yes, you’ll be standing on the world’s best sand while watching.

The catch is parking, which can be tough. The smart move is to roll up hours before sunset, bike in, or rent on the key for the night and skip the post-show traffic crawl entirely.

Throw a few bucks toward the show fund if you can — it only happens because locals chip in.

Sarasota Bay Explorers — 4th of July Cruise

📍 Departs from 1600 Ken Thompson Pkwy
🕐 Sunset (2 hr cruise) · 🎆 ~9pm
🎟️ Tickets release ~1 month out

Two hours on the water with a front-row view of the bayfront fireworks. The Bay Explorers boat departs from City Island at sunset, motors into Sarasota Bay with live narration from the crew, and anchors up for the show.

Soda, water, and chips are sold aboard, but you’re welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks in a small cooler — open alcohol just has to be corked or finished before docking. The boat returns shortly after the show, making the whole trip about 2 hours.

Tickets release about a month in advance and space is limited — set a reminder for early June if you want one.

Art Ovation Hotel — A Sparkling 4th

📍 Art Ovation Hotel (Perspective Bar)
🎆 ~9pm (rooftop view)
🎟️ 2026 tickets to be released

Sarasota’s downtown rooftop scene goes full pool-party mode for the 4th.

Perspective Bar throws open the deck, a DJ runs the playlist, the in-house grillmaster handles food, with the pool staying open through the show. The rooftop is a block off the bay with views of the fireworks.

Tickets come in three tiers (Red, White, Blue) on Eventbrite.

(2026 pricing and tier details to be announced.)

Fireworks on the Lake at Nathan Benderson Park

📅 Friday, July 3 — Day Before the 4th

📍 Nathan Benderson Park
🕐 5–10pm · 🎆 ~9pm
🏷️ Free admission · paid parking + VIP packages

The big regional day-before event — and one of the few times all year you’ll see fireworks reflected on rowing-lane water.

The pyro launches at 9pm from the lake, with five hours of build-up before it: live music, a Mote Marine Kids Zone, food trucks, and 92.1 CTQ broadcasting live from the park.

General admission is free. Paid parking and VIP packages go on sale May 21 and prices climb after June 20 — so don’t sleep on it if you want guaranteed parking or the VIP Viewing Experience (food included).

PopStroke Firework Watch Party

📅 Friday, July 3 — Day Before the 4th

📍 PopStroke at UTC
🎆 ~9pm (Benderson sightline)
🎟️ Eventbrite (2026 pricing TBD)

The rooftop alternative to a Benderson ticket.

PopStroke’s deck across the lake turns into a Benderson-fireworks watch party — and the included perks are generous: an all-day golf pass at the course downstairs, a few menu items off the rooftop kitchen, a drink (or scoop of ice cream), and a celebratory glass of prosecco or sparkling cider as the show kicks off.

It’s a good play for families who want the fireworks experience without wrestling with NBP parking and crowd.

Lakewood Ranch

Star-Spangled Spectacular at Waterside Place

📍 Waterside Place
🕐 6–9pm · 🎆 9pm drone show (no fireworks)
🏷️ Free

Lakewood Ranch’s newer marquee 4th of July event — and the only drone show in the region, which makes it a different kind of spectacle. It’s a family-first event with a clean, modern twist on the usual fireworks formula.

The three hours leading up to the drone show include Circus Arts Conservatory performers, magician/mentalist Star Newman, classic carnival games, a Kids Zone, and local food vendors.

The 2025 inaugural drew 8,000+ so expect an even bigger crowd this year.

Longboat Key

Longboat Key Freedom Fest

📍 Bicentennial Park
🕐 9–11am
🏷️ Free

Quintessential small-town 4th, hosted by the Longboat Key Chamber as part of America’s 250th.

The morning kicks off with the “Shortest Parade in America,” followed by the Hot Diggity Dog Contest. Games, crafts, a dunk tank, face painting, a petting zoo, and a butterfly release from the Longbßoat Key Garden Club fill out the rest of the program. Food and refreshments are also available on site.

The Chamber asks that you come dressed in your most patriotic red, white, and blue.

Anna Maria Island

AMI Privateers 4th of July Parade

📍 Coquina BeachAnna Maria City Pier
🕐 10am – 12:30pm
🏷️ Free

The single most distinctive 4th of July event in the region.

The Anna Maria Island Privateers, the island’s local pirate krewe, roll their galleon float down Gulf Drive starting at Coquina Beach, tossing beads and candy. The parade ends two hours later at the Anna Maria City Pier with a beach picnic.

Here’s the catch: it’s billed as the largest water-fight parade in the Southeast. Most parade participants spray onlookers, and onlookers are absolutely encouraged to spray back. Bring a water gun and wear something you don’t mind getting wet in.

(Full 2026 details to be announced.)

Sandbar Restaurant Fireworks Extravaganza

📍 Sandbar Seafood + Spirits
🎆 Dusk
🏷️ Free from the public sand (VIP package available)

A 30-plus-year island tradition. The Sandbar fires its annual fireworks show from the north end of Anna Maria, and the show is visible up and down the AMI beach.

You can watch from the public beach for free — bring a blanket, claim a stretch of sand, and you’re set. Or splurge on the VIP package, which gets you a private viewing area, catered food, an open bar, and valet parking.

(2026 VIP package details to be announced.)

Bradenton

Bradenton Alive: July 4th Celebration

📍 Rossi Park
🕐 from 5pm · 🎆 ~9pm
🏷️ Free

Bradenton’s biggest 4th. The fireworks launch from the Green Bridge Pier and burst over the Manatee River. The action centers along the riverfront, where a Little Firecrackers Kids Zone, food trucks, an artisan market, and live music fill the four hours leading up to the 9pm finale.

If you’d rather watch with a drink and a tablecloth, the riverfront dining row is the move: Oak & Stone runs a VIP deck, PIER 22 sets up a buffet, and Riverhouse Waterfront, Oyster River Rooftop, and Mila’s on the Manatee are all on the river.

(Full 2026 details to be announced.)

Before You Head Out

Whichever show you pick, arrive earlier than you think you need to. Saturday + America’s 250th means it’s likely to be the busiest 4th of July the region has seen in years.

Have a parking plan, and have fun out there.
