About the Market

The Phillippi Farmhouse Market is a weekly open-air market held every Wednesday morning at Phillippi Estate Park, a 60-acre natural area along Phillippi Creek in south Sarasota. With over 50 vendors, the market offers a wide mix of fresh produce, baked goods, flowers and plants, clothing, jewelry, artisan crafts, and more.

The market has been running since 2011, when it started with just 19 vendors. For years it was managed entirely by volunteers — making it the only all-volunteer market in the Sarasota area. It's now operated by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, and has grown into one of the area's staple weekly markets.

Compared to some of Sarasota's larger markets, the Phillippi Farmhouse Market has a noticeably relaxed and unhurried feel. The crowds are lighter, the aisles are easy to navigate, and the overall pace is calmer. If you've found the Downtown Farmers Market or Waterside Market at Lakewood Ranch a bit hectic, this one offers a welcome change of speed.

A few food trucks are typically on-site, though the food options are more limited than what you'll find at the bigger markets. This is a market that's best suited for picking up quality produce, baked goods, and artisan products to bring home rather than eating a full meal on-site.

Live music rounds out the atmosphere. A musician typically performs during the market, and because the layout is compact, the music carries throughout.

Parking & Directions

Phillippi Estate Park is located at 5500 S Tamiami Trail (US-41), south of downtown Sarasota and just east of Siesta Key.

Parking is free and plentiful. There's a large grass lot directly adjacent to the market with plenty of space, plus additional overflow parking throughout Phillippi Estate Park. Unlike some of the busier Sarasota markets, finding a spot here is virtually never an issue — even if you arrive mid-morning.

Local Tips

💡 Know Before You Go
  • Arrive early for the best selection. The market opens at 9 AM, and the first hour tends to be quieter with fewer crowds — a great time to browse at your own pace.
  • Come to shop, not just to eat. While there are a couple of food trucks, the real draw is the variety of produce, baked goods, and artisan goods you can take home.
  • Bring your dog. The market is dog-friendly, and the lighter crowds make it a more comfortable outing for pets compared to the larger Sarasota markets. On hot days, the all-grass surface is also much easier on paws than the pavement at some of the other markets.
  • Check the season. The market runs October through April only. Don't show up in the summer expecting to find it open.
  • Explore Phillippi Estate Park while you're there. The park features nearly a mile of walking paths. Free docent-led tours run through the historic Edson Keith Mansion at 10 AM and the Keith Farmhouse at 11 AM each Wednesday.
